Matthias Schack-Arnott + Buro Architects
Percussionist Matthias Schack-Arnott collaborates with Buro Architects to create a dark and immersive work for one person at a time. Enclosed in a small custom-built space, a visceral sonic world is experienced through shifting walls.
Chrysalis is a reflection on structures which enclose, restrict and envelope, and how they can be both nurturing and torturous. Matthias has developed a new approach to his percussive practice, in which complex webs of sound are formed from elemental materials – sand, grains, stone and pressurised air – harnessed in fierce and fragile textural intersections.Chrysalis leads you into a solitary world of confinement, vulnerability and metamorphosis.
