nothing is sacred: methods for destruction

Invested in liberation through counter-intuitive practices, 'nothing is sacred: methods for destruction' is a site-responsive live performance work which attempts to challenge western-centric desires for knowing, progress and order (aka holding the world captive).
“the only way out is by walking up to a brick wall and smashing your f*cking face into it”- no one.
Unlocking the gallery from its usual function, the work enters un-made and opens to the public as a work in progress. The gallery is now a studio space and the public are invited to witness the writing, development, de-development/destruction, and “performance”.
In the attempt to de-stabilise the viewer through (un)productive confusion, ‘nothing is sacred: methods for destruction’ is an experiment in finding ways to open spaces for momentary relief from colonial modes of being in the world. Using theories around failure (J. Halberstam), glitch feminism (L. Russel) and black nihilism, the work attempts to crack open passageways into bewilderment as perhaps the first step (the first step to nowhere).
Gabriella Imrichova is a 2019 graduate of VCA (Theatre). nothing is sacred; methods for destruction supports Gabriella’s early enquiries and experiments into de-centered methods of making for performance.
