TRISTAN AND ISOLDE: THE BEST OF PART IV is a performance work which examines the consumption of the pop/rock star myth, navigating the evolution from cultural revolutionary to doormat.

Allan: It’s a lovely Jackson Pollock.
Museum Girl: Yes, it is.
Allan: What does it say to you?
Museum Girl: It restates the negativeness of the universe. The hideous, lonely emptiness of existence. Nothingness. The predicament of man forced to live in a barren, godless eternity like a tiny flame flickering in an immense void with nothing but waste, horror and degradation forming a useless straightjacket in a black absurd cosmos.
Allan: What are you doing Saturday?
Museum Girl: Committing suicide.
Allan: What about Friday night?

Travis John holds a degree in music performance and composition, and a BFA Honours in sound and sculpture. He is currently undertaking a Master of Contemporary Arts at VCA. Travis most frequently works with sculpture/ installation and examines notions of absurdity, noise, and themes surrounding space and object as elements of musical composition. His work has been shown locally, interstate and internationally including: the

Arts Centre, Sawtooth Gallery, Bruce Gallery, Platform, Conduit, Tinning st, Fort Delta and Seventh Gallery.
His practice also incorporates performance, most recently performing at the Museum of Contemporary Art, the

Arts Centre and the International Noise Conference. Last year Travis was awarded the New Work grant from the Australia Council.
